Phone Help

If you have been diagnosed with cancer, or if someone close to you has, you may have questions and want current, accurate information. There are two cancer help lines in NH with knowledgeable, kind and supportive staff who can talk with you when you call:

Cancer Resource Line

The oncology nurses at the Cancer Resource line can provide you with up-to-date information from leading cancer experts so that you understand what to expect. Call them at 663-5787 or 1-800-235-5468 from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The Cancer Resource line is a free service provided by Elliot Hospital as part of their referral and help information service.

Norris Cotton Cancer Center Help Line
1-800-639-6918

The Norris Cotton Cancer Center is an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center and coordinates all cancer diagnosis activities within the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The NCCC Cancer Help Line gives information about cancer treatment, prevention, support groups, programs and events, and other resources related to cancer. The Help Line is staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. At other times, you may leave a voice mail message; your call will be returned as soon as possible to give you the help you need. To reach the Cancer Help Line, call: 1-800-639-6918.

Along with a comprehensive “Cancer Information” section covering all aspects of cancer and cancer treatment, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) site has extensive information pertaining to Clinical Trials including ways to search for a trial for a specific cancer type. Many of the NCI’s excellent patient information resources and fact sheets are available online. The dictionary of cancer-related terminology is a good reference guide for patients.

Visit the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s "People Living with Cancer" web site to get information to help understand cancer and cancer types, and get access to the latest information on cancer drugs, medical research and treatment guidelines. As the leading organization representing medical professionals who treat people with cancer, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) is dedicated to helping patients and their families find accurate, reliable and oncologist-approved information about cancer.
